  • EN3 Sustainable Materials, means of compliance 'CarboNZero product certification' (0.75) and 'CEMARS product certification' (0.25)

    Status
    Accepted with conditions
    Named as
    Product Carbon Footprint
    Edition named
    PAS 2050:2011
    Level
0.75 (CarboNZero product certification); 0.25 (CEMARS product certification) · points (EN3 Sustainable Materials, per material category; max 1.5 per category)
    Conditions
Only through CarboNZero product certification (0.75) or CEMARS product certification (0.25), each being independent verification and certification that the product's carbon footprint is calculated to PAS 2050:2011. CarboNZero also requires: measures to manage, reduce and mitigate the product's net GHG emissions to zero; a commitment to an emissions management and reduction plan; and offsetting of remaining unavoidable emissions with carbon credits that Homestar calls “verified”. CEMARS also requires: lifecycle GHG emissions of the product measured; and a commitment to manage and reduce them under an emissions management and reduction plan. Points apply only where at least 50% of the material category content is reused, eco-preferred or responsibly sourced. Evidence: product data sheet or certificate demonstrating “compliance” (Homestar’s word). Where a product qualifies for several methods, the one with the most points is selected.
